For the low cost of $199.00, Dynon Avionics's pitot probe (available now) seamlessly complements the EFIS-D10, having been designed to enhance general aviation safety by providing angle of attack information to the pilot. Dynon's pitot consists of a standard pitot tube with an additional sensing port for angle of attack dependant pressures. Pressures from these ports on the pitot are sensed with silicon-based semiconductor pressure sensors (located in the EFIS-D10) and analyzed by the EFIS-D10 to translate the pressure data into angle of attack and airspeed. Dynon's heated pitot (available early 2004 for an introductory price of $199) contains a custom, built-in controlled heater to assure safe operation even in icing conditions.
