THE ADVANCED ULTRALIGHT: HIGH WING
AND RETRACTABLE GEAR
- The incomparable flying qualities of the high wing
configuration and the low drag benefits of the retractable gear.
- Weight, Power and Costs at Ultralight rate with
an aerodynamic efficiency and performances better than general
aviation airplane.
- Speed, Range and Comfort running toward luxury
level.
- Compliance with airworthiness requirements, BFU,
JAR-VLA, RAI-VEL.
- Metallic main structure with anticorrosive surface
treatmens.
- Engine Rotax 912 S 100 hp.

The
wingspan is about one meter shorter than the P92-S aircraft for
improving its turbulence behavior due to its faster typical speeds.
The increased wing load, affecting the flap down speed requirement,
is balanced by an improved bottom hinged slot-flap system wich results
in an almost Fowler flap efficiency retaing a very simple actuation
mechanism.
The
fusolage of the P92 2000 Rg has been completely redesigned, still
maintaining the slender fairing betwen cabin and vertical fin. The
internal cabin is now 4 cm larger than the previous aircraft (the
internal max width is 120 cm) with rounded bottom fuselage allowing
the necessary room for housing the main landing gear and improving
the aerodynamics of fuselage itself.
Like the previous aircraft, a steel truss structure is use for the
cabin (high resistance for crash-landing emergencies) and light
aluminium alloy for the tail cone.
The
main landing gear is made by two supporting beams hinged around
the end of two composite leaf springs house inside the fuselage.
This arrangement still allows, in a retractable gear, the use of
the spring leaf for the landing shock absorption, preserving therefore
all this advantage (simplicity, reliability, maintainability). The
main legs are simply rotate by two pneumatic actuators.
The
front wheel is integrated with a high efficient oleo-pneumatic shock
absorber. The steering and the braking system are unchanged. When
the landing gear is down the torque-arms are mechanically blocked,
preventing the rotation unless driven by the actuators. An electrical
compressor gives the necessary pressure to the pneumatic system
headed up by two spherical tanks. One tanks gives the necessary
compressed air in case of system failure. In any case the gravity
assures the landing gear extension. The panel indicators (up-and-locked,
down-and-locked) comply with FAR requirement.
The
instrument panel, wider than the P92-S, allows the most complete
set of instruments and radio communication and navigation systems.
The right side of the cocpkit has been a few degrees rotated to
facilitate its reading from the pilots seat.
